Panel design & manufacturing

Industrial control panels, all types, built in-house

Panel design and manufacturing of every type — PLC and automation panels, VFD and drive panels, relay and safety panels, and local control stations. Designed, fabricated, wired, tested and documented by the same team that specifies the Siemens components and writes the code.

What we build

If it is a low-voltage industrial assembly, we design and manufacture it. Everything is engineered around the Siemens components we supply, so selection, build and commissioning stay with one team.

Panel types

The panels we build

Automation and PLC panels, drive panels, safety panels and local control stations — built to the same standard whatever the size.

The process

From enquiry to energised, in seven stages

Each stage has a defined output. Nothing moves forward on a verbal understanding, because on a panel job the verbal understandings are what come back as rework.

01

Requirement & selection

We work from your load list, single line diagram or process description. Motors are checked against actual duty cycle, breakers against prospective fault level, and the enclosure against the ambient temperature it will really see — not the one on the datasheet.

02

Design & approval drawings

General arrangement, internal layout, power and control schematics, terminal schedule and bill of material are issued for your approval before a single component is ordered. Changes at this stage cost an email; changes after wiring cost a week.

03

Procurement

Siemens components come through our own authorized supply channel, which means genuine articles with traceable origin. Third-party items — enclosures, terminals, cable, cooling — come from vendors we have qualified and continue to audit.

04

Fabrication & mounting

Enclosure preparation, gland plate machining, DIN rail and trunking layout, busbar work and component mounting. Clearances for ventilation, arc containment and future maintenance access are set here and checked against the approved layout.

05

Wiring & termination

Wiring is executed against the schedule, ferruled and numbered at both ends. High and low voltage circuits are physically segregated, analogue and encoder cables are screened and earthed to Siemens EMC practice, and every earth bond is verified rather than assumed.

06

Testing & FAT

Continuity, insulation resistance and earth bonding checks, followed by power-up, I/O checking against the schedule, interlock and safety function proving, and drive parameterisation. You are welcome to witness the factory acceptance test before we close the doors.

07

Dispatch, install & commission

Panels are packed for the journey they will actually make, including sea freight where required. On site we supervise installation, complete loop checks, tune drives, run trials with your production team and train the operators who will live with the system.

Standards & workmanship

What “built properly” means in practice

Panel quality is not visible in a photograph. It shows up two years later, in whether a maintenance technician can find a fault at 3 a.m. with only the drawing you gave them.

  • IEC 61439 principles. Design and routine verification followed for low-voltage assemblies, including temperature rise, clearance and creepage.
  • Coordinated protection. Type 1 or Type 2 coordination chosen deliberately per feeder, so a fault does not destroy a starter you intended to reuse.
  • EMC discipline. Screened motor cable, 360-degree screen termination, separated cable routes and a proper earth reference — the reason our drive installations do not produce phantom encoder faults.
  • Thermal design. Heat dissipation calculated from actual component losses, then ventilation or cooling sized to it — not a fan added because the panel felt warm.
  • Identification throughout. Every wire ferruled, every device labelled, every terminal numbered, matching the as-built drawing exactly.
  • Serviceability. Spare ways, spare terminals and accessible routing left deliberately, because every panel is modified eventually.

What leaves our works with the panel

Documentation is generated as the panel is built, corrected during testing and issued as-built — matching the metal you actually receive.

Drawings
As-built general arrangement, internal layout, power and control schematics, interconnection and terminal schedules — in native and PDF format.
Bill of material
Item-wise list with manufacturer article numbers, so a replacement can be ordered years later without reverse-engineering the panel.
Test records
Insulation resistance, continuity and earth bonding results, I/O check sheet signed against the schedule, and the factory acceptance test report.
Software
The complete TIA Portal project — commented, structured and unlocked — together with drive parameter sets and HMI project files.
Operating information
Description of operation, alarm list with likely causes, start-up and shutdown sequence, and component manuals for the installed items.
Spares recommendation
A considered critical-spares list based on lead time and consequence of failure, rather than one of every item in the panel.
After handover

Support that continues past the final invoice

Retrofit & upgrade

Replacing obsolete controllers, drives and panels inside an existing installation, staged around your shutdown window.

Breakdown attendance

Fault-finding on Siemens systems we supplied and on installations built by others, with spares supplied to match.

Maintenance contracts

Scheduled inspection of panels, drives and networks, with thermal checks, backup verification and a written report.

Operator training

Practical training on the delivered system for your operators and maintenance staff, on your own equipment.

Have a panel to build or an old one to replace?

Send the load list, the single line diagram, or simply a photograph of the existing panel with its nameplate. We will tell you what it needs and what it will realistically take.

Not only Siemens

Other brands supplied on request

We are authorized for Siemens and that is where our engineering depth sits. We also supply industrial components from other manufacturers — drives, switchgear, sensors, motors, instrumentation and panel components — whatever the job or your own plant standard calls for. Send the make, model or rating and we will quote it.
